De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:
DDO 216, also known as the Pegasus Dwarf Irregular Galaxy, is a well-studied nearby low luminosity system that shows properties of both dwarf irregulars and dwarf spheroidals. It shows star-forming regions against a relatively smooth background of older stars. Gallagher et al. (1998) suggested that DDO 216 has had an extended evolutionary history, with active star formation over 3 Gyr.
