De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

This is one of the largest collisional ring galaxies in the sky (see book section 2.17.5). It was catalogued by Arp and Madore (1987), and has been studied in detail by Higdon and Wallin (1997), who point out that the asymmetry in the positioning of the ring indicates a substantially offset collision. Higdon and Wallin consider the doubling of the ring on one side to be a unique feature not normally seen in collisional ring galaxies . The ring is dominated by massive star formation as is typical of such systems.
