This remarkable object, once called the ``perfect ringed galaxy" by Brosch (1985), was shown by Schweizer et al. (1987) to be an E0 galaxy that possibly accreted or disrupted a gas-rich companion. Alternatively, Wakamatsu (1990) considered that galaxies like Hoag's Object could be barred or ex-barred galaxies
