IC 2574 is a Magellanic spiral similar in luminosity to the Small Magellanic Cloud. It shows the characteristic SBm asymmetry and a broad but fairly well-defined bar. Karachentsev (2005) lists IC 2574 as a member of the M81 Group at a distance of 4.0 Mpc.
