De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

This galaxy is a rare example of an SAm. It shows three diffuse spiral features in a relatively well-centered morphology. There is no trace of a bulge, nucleus, or bar. IC 4182 is a very nearby galaxy and has a well-studied stellar population (e.g., Sandage et al. 1996). Karachentsev (2005) lists IC 4182 as a member of the nearby Canes Venatici I Cloud at a distance of 4.7 Mpc.
