Leo II is almost 2 magnitudes less luminous than Leo I, but is the same kind of object. Nevertheless, the star formation histories of the two objects are very different, with Leo II having most of its stars older than 8 Gyr and Leo I having most of its stars younger than 8 Gyr (Mateo 1998).
