De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

NGC 1387 has a clear, normal-looking (non-ansae type) bar imbedded within a very extensive envelope. The envelope is essentially structureless except for the bar. The galaxy is similar to NGC 1574 . There is no trace of a ring or lens , hence the galaxy has no variety.
