De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

NGC 1527 has a very extended disk and is clearly an S0; we adopt S0- because its disk is free of structure. However, the inner regions include a feature that is uncannily similar to the inner hexagonal zone of NGC 7020 . The feature in NGC 1527 has a hexagonal shape and rather pointy ends where NGC 7020 has two bright ``spots." Also as in NGC 7020 , the feature lies along the major axis of the disk. As for NGC 7020, we are suspicious that this strange zone is bar-related. This feature also proves that the ``spots" in NGC 7020 are not artifacts of tilt, but are probably real. The inner zone in NGC 1527 has features in common with box/peanut bulges .
