De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

Although highly inclined, we suspect the morphology of NGC 1532 is that of a disturbed barred spiral. Heavy near-side extinction complicates the interpretation. There is a possible nuclear ring in the center. The companion, NGC 1531 , shows a bar-like feature, but no obvious core. We suspect this object is an I0 or a disturbed dwarf elliptical.
