De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:
NGC 1533 has a very well-defined bar and an extensive envelope showing a subtle trace of an outer ring . However, the ring is barely different from a lens , and we use the classification (RL) to describe it. It is very similar to the feature seen in NGC 4477 , but NGC 1533 lacks the accompanying arcs. Like NGC 4479 , the S0o classification is based on the well-defined nature of the features, the obvious presence of a disk, and the lack of any major structural features such as rings, arcs, or dust.
