De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

NGC 3190 is not exactly edge-on, but it is edge-on enough to still make determination of its family and variety difficult. We can see no trace of an inner ring , and can rule out the (r) variety. Thus, the (s) classification is probably reasonable. We also can discern no clear bar, but can't rule one out because of the complex dust structure. In fact, a 2MASS image (Jarrett et al. 2003) shows a possible bar. Thus, we prefer not to recognize a family or variety in the blue light classification.

NGC 3190 is a member of a small group of galaxies (including NGC 3185 , 3187, and 3193), and may be interacting with one of its companions.
