De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

This complex edge-on has a bright bulge and a very thick, asymmetric dust layer. Only the inner parts of the galaxy are covered in the Atlas images. As for several others shown, the main part of the dust layer is bluer than the stellar disk, probably due in part to scattered light from young blue stars in the disk and to star-forming areas of low extinction. The bulge shows some boxiness and could represent a bar.
