De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

This galaxy is a companion to NGC 3893 , a large Sc, and may be affected by an interaction. The inner regions have a boxy zone that probably includes considerable recent star formation. The irregular outer light distribution is much smoother than the inner boxy zone. We interpret the galaxy either as a Magellanic irregular or as an I0 similar to NGC 5253 where a smooth outer disk includes a central area of strong recent star formation.
