De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

NGC 4026 is a very good S0 which shows a multi-zone structure with a slight twist along its major axis. The thin disk section on each side of the major axis is very slightly curved. In the central region, a small, bright disk is seen. Around this area, subtle effects of dust cause slight irregularities in the brightness distribution. This is shown better in the B-I color index map, where the dust distribution is seen to be very complex and not well-correlated with the disk plane. In the color index map, intensities in the core were saturated in both B and I. The strange dust distribution could signify that NGC 4026 has recently suffered a minor merger .
