De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

In spite of the complex appearance of this galaxy, we can recognize a weak bar (oriented horizontally in the picture shown). A sharp curved dust lane crosses the north half of the bar, making the bar difficult to recognize. This is a peculiar feature of this galaxy. Two arms largely open outward continuously, for which we assign the (s)-variety. The appearance is complicated by a splitting of the two inner arms in the regions along the bar minor axis. The Sab classification is due to the general appearance of the spiral arms, the light patchiness, and the complex dust distribution.
