De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

We have adopted an Sab classification for this Seyfert 1 galaxy because of the general smoothness of the arms. The spiral structure is lightly knotty. In many respects, the galaxy resembles NGC 1433 except that the features are weak. The inner ring is an ill-defined feature that is weak near its minor axis, hence the (rs) classification. Off the leading edges of the inner pseudoring , features reminiscent of the "plumes " of NGC 1433 are seen. These are not nearly as distinct or detached as those in NGC 1433 . Inside the inner ring , obvious bar dust lanes are seen. As in NGC 1433 , these dust lanes wrap around a small nuclear ring which in this case appears elongated nearly perpendicular to the bar. A small bulge lies inside this ring.
