De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

The two components of this exotic pair in the Hercules Cluster (A2151) both show signs of interaction. The brighter component, NGC 6040 B, is a face-on Sa with a weak inner pseudoring ; its outer spiral structure is also partly ring-like. NGC 6040 A looks tidally distorted because its inner section looks more edge-on than its main outer arm. We suspect an inner ring and possibly a weak bar or oval in the inner section.
