De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

This M51 -type pair includes a peculiar small companion with a central starburst region, and a larger spiral with strong structure. The resemblance to M51 is striking. Salo and Laurikainen (1993) made dynamical models of the system and concluded that the geometry of the encounter favored transfer of 5% of the spiral's gas mass to the companion.
