De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

De Vaucouleurs adopted an SAB classification for this galaxy, probably because of the way the main arms appear to terminate just short of the center. However, no bar is evident in our Atlas image. A possible inner oval was detected in ellipse fits to isophotes on a K-band image (Mulchaey, Regan, and Kundu 1997). The small core, and the chaotic and patchy nature of the spiral structure, are the basis for our Sc classification.
