De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

NGC 247 is another of the major late-type members of the Sculptor Group (de Vaucouleurs 1959b). There is a trace of a possible bar; however, a 2MASS image (Jarrett et al. 2003) is ambiguous as to the possible bar's reality. There appears to be a small bulge or nucleus, and the spiral structure is only ill-defined.
