De Vaucouleurs Atlas Description:

This is a three-ring system with a clear but relatively weak bar that is significantly foreshortened. The bar is surrounded by a strong inner ring that is largely closed. The ring is lightly patchy and defined by star formation. The outer arms are weak and slightly asymmetric, but they define a good R1' OLR subclass pseudoring. In the center a large nuclear ring is seen. It is elongated in the same sense as the outer disk and could be nearly circular in the disk plane. The nuclear ring is smoother than the inner ring . NGC 536 fits well into the Sab type.
