This website is a comprehensive compilation of images of bright, nearby galaxies classified in a modified version of the de Vaucouleurs revised Hubble-Sandage system, as outlined in detail in The de Vaucouleurs Atlas of Galaxies, by R. Buta, H. G. Corwin, Jr., and S. C. Odewahn (2007, Cambridge: Cambridge University Press). The website includes not only the 523 galaxies illustrated in the de Vaucouleurs Atlas, but also many additional images have been installed. Eventually, the website will also include high redshift galaxies beyond the original scope of the de Vaucouleurs Atlas.
